Stelvio Pass Out And Back

East of Bormio the Stelvio Pass awaits us at 2758m, some 1533m higher than our hotel starting point (1225m), and only 21.5 Km away! While the average grade is only 7.1%, the climb is more than 1 mile vertical spread over 13 miles of roadway, so very sustained. The climb to Stelvio Pass is anything but monotonous, as the mountains are spectatular, and there are a few dark-ish tunnels to keep you on your toes!
While the Stelvio Pass can be ridden as an out-and-back, which is a nice option on a rain shortened day, this Stelvio Pass Loop ride is a bit more involved. In essence, we climb both sides of the Stelvio in the same day!
